CH Clutches for Deck Machinery and Equipment

San Francisco based Bay Delta Maritime chose Rapp Marine Winches for its latest tug, the Delta Teresa. The vessel has been fitted with a Rapp HAW-75E bow hawser winch that can pull up to 16 tons and has a brake holding strength of 300 tons at barrel layer.

The winch's drum is designed to store more than 850 ft. (260m) of 8-inch (200mm) circumference hawser rope.

The electric tow winch on the aft end of the tugboat contains a Rapp AHTW-50E single drum winch, which stores approximately 1,200ft (366m) of 2 inch (50mm) synthetic rope. The winch can pull more than 75 tons (69 tons) at first layer and utilizes pneumatic cylinders in place of hydraulics. The robust brake offers a force of 205 tons on the barrel layer.

Both winches, bow and stern are equipped with level winds, and Logan multiple disc CH series Clutches that disengage the drum from the drive line for either routine operations, or in the event of an emergency freewheel / release situation.
