Shrink discs
The shrink disc connection is a friction-fit shaft-hub connection used to secure the hollow shaft or hub to the shaft without play. As an alternative to two-piece shrink discs, TAS Schäfer also manufactures three-piece shrink discs and hydraulic shrink discs . Hydraulic shrink discs, in particular, offer customers a significant time advantage during installation. While mechanical shrink discs can sometimes require several hours of assembly time, hydraulic shrink discs are tightened using oil pressure within minutes. The design is based on a three-piece shrink disc, consisting of a threaded pressure ring, a pressure ring with through holes, and a slotted inner ring. Three-piece shrink discs have a larger cone angle compared to two-piece shrink discs. This allows for simple disassembly of the shrink disc connection, requiring only the loosening of the clamping screws. Unlike two-piece shrink discs, the use of extraction screws is not necessary. Due to their design, 3-piece shrink discs are able to bridge larger tolerances during assembly without significant torque loss. The shrink disc's seat can also have a comparatively larger amount of play.
The general applications of 3-piece shrink discs, 2-piece shrink discs (position-controlled) , and 2-piece shrink discs (torque-controlled) are mostly identical. Areas of application include, for example, wind power, drive technology, raw material extraction, conveyor technology, comminution technology, mixing and process engineering, and hollow shaft gearboxes of all makes. 3-piece shrink discs are also used on shaft couplings "TAS WK" and flange couplings "TAS FK" and "TAS FKB".
