Flange coupling

The "FK" and "FKB" series flange couplings from TAS Schäfer are rigid solutions for connecting two shaft ends. They can be configured as a full flange coupling, consisting of two flange halves and two shrink discs, or optionally as a half flange coupling, consisting of one flange half and one shrink disc. The primary function of a rigid flange coupling is to securely and without backlash connect two shafts using friction. Flange couplings in the "FK" and "FKB" series can be separated directly at the flanges, simplifying installation on the respective shaft ends. The shrink discs mounted on the flange halves create a backlash-free connection by pressing the flange hubs onto the shaft ends. Flange couplings are primarily designed to transmit torque. Bending moments and axial forces can also be reliably transmitted using the "FK" and "FKB" series flange couplings.

The shrink discs mounted on the flange couplings only provide the necessary forces and do not themselves transmit any forces or moments between shafts and flange halves. They are therefore not part of the force flow.

Assembly is carried out by sliding the individual flange halves onto the shaft ends and then clamping the shrink discs in place. In the final step, the individual flange halves are joined using screws.

TAS flange couplings of the series “FK” and “FKB” are used, for example, in marine technology, wind power technology, conveyor technology, mixing and process technology, hydropower technology as well as in crushing plants and elevators.
