Logan PTO Clutches for Twin Disc Marine Transmissions

Logan direct drive PTO’s are effective and reliable solutions for applications where hydraulic pumps are used in on-demand or intermittent situations.

This Twin Disc Marine Transmission pictured above, is equipped with live SAE B pad, which uses a hydraulic pump to power nets, reels, hoists, anchors, and bow thrusters on a fishing vessel, or workboat.

By sandwiching a Logan Direct Drive PTO clutch in between the transmission and pump, the pump is now engaged on demand, from a control panel or bridge.

Reduce Fuel Consumption and Lower Emissions:

The ability to engage on-demand limits the amount of fuel and emissions required to power the pump.

Lower Maintenance costs and extend the life of your hydraulic Pump and System:

There is also less wear and tear on the hydraulic pump and less heat generated in the hydraulic system which adds life to hydraulic oil, and other driveline components.

Crew Comfort:

Lower ambient noise in the engine room, through intermittent use of pumps and equipment, goes a long way with crew comfort in galleys and quarters.

Logan Soft Start Manifolds:

The Logan softstart™ manifold, used to engage and disengage the Logan Clutch, guarantees smooth engagement at RPM’s consistent with the new tier requirements for marine, mobile and industrial engines.

Features:

  • Reduces fuel costs and emissions: The Logan PTO aids in the reduction of emissions, energy, fuel costs, and wear and tear on pumps and auxiliary attachments
  • The low-profile, compact Logan PTO design is suitable for workboats, fishing boats, and pleasure craft
  • Hydraulic actuation – integrates into existing hydraulic system
  • Field retrofits with existing Twin Disc® and ZF® Transmissions
  • Available for the SAE J744 mounts: 2 bolt B / 4 bolt B / 4 bolt C applications View of Twin Disc transmission equipped with a Logan SBB-2000 clutch mounted between the live PTO and 30 gallon per minute pump.

Advantages:

  • During Maneuvering – which requires reduction of main engine speed, the Logan PTO is used as a separate power source for bow and stern thrusters.
  • The PTO directly connects to a pump drive, which powers winches, reels, hoists, and deck pressure washers.
  • The PTO can be coupled to an alternator to supply electric power to other power consumers on the vessel.

Manifolds:

Logan offers fluid and air actuated softstart valve manifolds complete with gauge and pressure switch to ensure smooth engagement of the Logan PTO.
